COMMITMENT TO LITERACY
Read > Lead > Achieve® is Pi Beta Phi's philanthropic effort, which inspires a lifelong love of reading that can unlock true potential, creating a more literate and productive society.
As Pi Phis, we believe in the power of reading. We believe reading always has been — and always will be — a powerful step toward a life of enduring impact. We believe that when one out of four children grow up unable to read, that’s one child too many. For more than a century, we’ve committed ourselves to creating a more literate and productive society.
The WA Beta Chapter is devoted to spreading awareness about the importance of literacy and our strong philanthropy. We believe that reading is the foundation for lifelong learning and personal growth. Here is how the WA Beta Chapter strive to make a difference.
We proudly support our philanthropy through local initiatives, including book drives and fundraising events. Our biggest philanthropy fundraiser is Lemonade for Literacy, which occurs in the Fall. Throughout the day, our chapter works together to promote literacy and connect with as many individuals as possible, educating them about the importance of literacy. Other events we host during the school year include the Pi Phi Parlor, serving the community ice cream, Pie a Pi Phi, Phlower Power, and more! All proceeds are donated to the Read > Lead > Achieve foundation, granting children the ability to achieve their academic desires and face life confidently. As a chapter, we are passionate about this cause and work together to promote positive reading initiatives.
